Wednesday 22nd July

July 23rd, 2009 by Jake
Crikey, it's like trying to organise the D-Day landing here at BC. We are currently in the early stages of a four-wave attack on Normandy - err, I mean K2! Fabrizio went up early this morning on a multiday trip to recce the upper-reaches of the mountain. Tomorrow the FNGs (The 3 Broad Peak Boys), head up to C2 to spend the night as part of their 'welcome to K2' starter package (they are actually more acclimatised than us, but we won't go into that...!). On Friday I, 2 other members and 2 HAPs are going to C2 in preparation for a weekend of fixing to, and hopefully setting up and sleeping in, C3. On Saturday, the remaining 4 original K2 team members are heading up to C2 to consolidate that camp, and then hopefully, if we've been successful in our part of the battle-plan, follow us up on Sunday to C3 to spend the night. We are hoping for low winds this weekend, which should make the fixing of the rope to C3 a lot easier... Inshallah!

Meanwhile today down in BC is been a surprisingly cold and damp day, with a significant amount of snowfall up until lunchtime, although not much has settled. It's been a 'confined to quarters' kind of day. Too cold really to lounge around in the Marmot Dome tent, so each up us huddled in our personal tents. Before he went up, I borrowed Fabrizio's itouch, which means that I've got access to some new movies, which I've been engrossed in all day. Unfortunately, before I left, I only downloaded 1 movie onto my new itouch, and however funny 'Hot Fuzz' is, I'm grateful for some new things to watch.

So, another rest day for me tomorrow, and then hopefully up the hill on Friday for a busy weekend of work. I hate working on weekends...
