All quiet on the western front once again (or should that be Southern Face). Looks like we've got another wild weekend in store - waiting for the weather to subside. I thought that perhaps today, as it is a slow news day, I would let you know about food and meals in BC.
Keeping our strength up, and of course recharging between forays up the hill is vitally important, and most of this is down to the fantastic quality of the meals that we are getting down here in BC:
Breakfast - 8am
Chance to rehydrate after a long night in our bags - Tea/Coffee (both instant and real!)/hot chocolate/Orange Tang.
Usually Omelettes, Chapattis (with jam/honey etc), Muesli and sometimes porridge.
Lunch - 1pm
Similar each day, but today we had...
Vegetable soup with noodles.
Spaghetti in tomato sauce. Subsi (dish of various boiled vegetables in soy sauce)
Fresh vegetables - cucumber, tomato etc
Cheese
Fresh Mango
On the table are also dried apricots and mango
However, other options for lunch include:
Vegetable pizza, chips, rice, frankfurters, potato cakes, fresh fruit, fruit salad etc
Supper - 7pm
Again soup of some kind to start with (often with noodles, macaroni or pasta in).
Rice/pasta/spaghetti
Subsi
Stew of either Yak or Goat (Yak is much better than goat!)
Trifle, custard, crème-caramel, jelly, fruit salad.
So as you can see, although the meals tend to be relatively similar, the food is very good, and there is plenty of it. In between meals, we snack on biscuits from the kitchen tent, or on our own supplies.
So there you go. Until another exciting and enthralling BC rest day dispatch (I've got 24 hours to think of something interesting or witty to write..) - Adios.=
