Tanks, Boats and O2
So… the plans for K2 are certainly hotting up. Getting my oxygen sorted at the moment (it would be nice to summit without, but then again I want to maximise my chances of getting to the top and living to tell the tale!). Jack Links very kindly sent me a whole load of beef jerky to keep my strength up on the mountain – fantastic for my protein intake and absolutely delicious as well. Clif Bar are also helping out by sending some of their great energy bars to keep me going. I’ve also got the main meals on the way as well – very difficult trying to work out what you think you’ll want to be eating at 8000m in 2 months time – lets hope that I still like Chicken Tikka and Fish Pie by then!
In the meantime, last weekend was spent at Badminton Horse Trials (with the Regiment) showing the general public around a Challenger 2 main battle tank. It was a fantastic opportunity for kids and adults alike to have a look inside a real (modern) tank and see how it all works.
I’m off to Rome on Saturday to give a lecture on board a cruise ship (P&O) and then sailing back to Southampton via Gibraltar, which should begreat fun.
This is also my first email blog – sent via email rather than going online to my actual site, so lets hope that it works. Whilst I’m away this is how I intent to update my website!
Many thanks to my first 3 K2 suppliers:
