Men in Pants

May 26th, 2008 by Jake
I was lucky enough to have been invited the other day to take part in the Orchid Trust's annual 'Men in Pants' walk around London. The charity is the only British charity dedicated to fighting the 3 forms of male cancer (testicular, prostate and penile), and does tremendous work with pioneering research and promoting awareness. It was a beautiful day in London on Thursday, and we all met up in Paternoster Sq to then walk to the Tate Modern and back - in our pants! The celebs there included Wimbledon Champion Pat Cash, Olympian and Gladiator Du’aine Ladejo, Page 3’s Melanie Boorman, former Scottish Rugby Captain Eric Peters, historian Crispin Swayne, Ski Sunday’s Graham Bell, Beyond Boundaries presenter Ken Hames, Peter Stringfellow’s Angels, Comedian Russ Williams who was also compering the event, and Strictly Come Dancing’s Brendan Cole. We had a very amusing warm up session from one of Fitness First's young trainers, and then went on our yomp, followed by several hundred passerbys and office workers who donned a pair of pants over their suits during their lunch hour. From my point of view it was great to see Ken, Graham and Crispin, as we are all under the same management, and therefore feel like one big happy family. Most importantly, the event raised a few pounds and hopefully remind chaps to 'check themselves' a bit more often, and thus was a great success. I look forward to next years already!
